…………………………………………………………………………… Solo Trek From Mullayangiri to Bababudangiri.
Well has been said by some wise person that man proposes God disposes. Trek to Mullayanagri was not a planned one, after cancellation of trek to Tadiandamol, I planned this solo trek at the peak of an hour.
"Venturing in nature is an addiction in itself."
Mullayangri is considered as the highest peak between Himalayas and Western Ghats, standing proudly at a height of 2000 metres (approx) from sea level, so it always tops the list of trekkers and infact it is worth it.
After doing a little research on the trek routes and inspiration from my Boss fuelled the plan. While discussing the trek plan with my Boss we found the trek workable and the chances of rain were made less by the weather forecast report. Feeling everything right, my heart gave a green signal for a solo trek.
Packing my bag and slipping in trekking dress provided solution and silenced all of my worries about the trek. Finally I left for a destination about which I had only heard and read. After boarding a Bus from KBS Majestic to this unknown place I was all set for an adventure.
During my journey I could resemble the worries of my life to the clouds which again and again covered Moon in the sky, but I could witness clouds passing away easily as problems in my life, remembering me of a saying that nothing lasts forever.
The sceneries escaping through the bus window always hypnotise me to peep deep in my thoughts and give me an indescribable inner peace. Sooner as the bus was heading to its destination I found myself fast asleep in the seat.
2.30 AM
By this time I was woken up by the Chickmanglur call of Conductor, in an urge to sleep more and seeing other people sleeping on Bus stand floor and on passenger waiting seats, I laid my foam mattress on one of the empty seat and slept soundly.
4.00 Am
Loud chatting by nearby people forced me to wake up. After having breakfast I planned to leave the place. After enquiring from local guys I came to know that the bus to Bababudangiri starts at 6.00Am, Some auto Guys were pitching for 300bucks to drop me near sarpdhari which I found reasonable for a distance of 14 Kms, but I still choose to take a bus.
After boarding a bus to Bababudangari I was informed by conductor that I was in a wrong bus, and he advised me to get down at a nearby bus stop and directed me the route to Bababudangiri. sooner I was stopped by forest official guys at an entrance post, stopping me from walking on foot. With help of forest guards I got a lift from Royal Enfield bikers, and they dropped me near the base of Mullayangiri Temple, waving good byes to the bikers I continued to climb the stairs of the temple. The whole area was completely covered in Clouds and the stairs gave me the feel as if I was stepping into heaven.
7.00 Am
By this time I proudly felt myself at the highest peak in Karnataka, sooner I tried to find the way towards Bababudangiri, resulting which I stepped into caves, it is said that priests used to stay and perform Pooja in those caves.
After exploring in caves I found some big spiders. Speaking to my map and looking for direction in my compass I successfully figured out my direction and sooner I started my trek of 13 Kms approx. to Bababudangiri.
8.00 Am
Clouds were still playing hide and seek with the beautiful sceneries of the area, also making it difficult for me to find the trails. On my way I listened to the songs of wind and sounds of tree leaves. It was chirping of birds whose company I had and they left no stone unturned in greeting me with their songs, in return I also sang to their tunes. The gusts of cold winds and sceneries of the area easily touched my soul, and successfully helping in forgetting the mortal world.
11.00 Am
It was not too late as I heard horns and humming of vehicle engines, bringing me back to this world. I was supposed to cross the Bababudangiri road and also, I managed to Sucessfully frisk away from the sight of forest officials and guards who could have easily stopped me from venturing into forests and hindering the second part of my trek, as it is believed that tigers and Leopards are spotted in that area.
To be frank second part of my trek was creating a feeling of fear and it was not too late when I scared a grazing Neel ghai also her surprise presence scaring shit out of me. At that moment i could easily feel adrenaline rush throughout my body. The idea of big cats was still hunting somewhere in my brain. As I saw huge group of trekkers coming from opposite end and as they came closer I discovered they belonged to Malaysia and were working in Bangalore. All of us greeted each other with hellos, smiles and handshakes and they were surprised to see me alone in such a wilderness. I had a small chat with the local guys accompanying them and again those guys putting a thought of big cats in my mind, about which I was really upset.
Soon we bid adieu to each other and I carried on to my destination. Soon far away on a hill I could see a Telecom Tower reminding me of Bsnl tower, what I read on internet, guessing I am on correct path.
1.00 PM
By this time I was drawing myself much closer to the tower and I could also see human habitation, sooner I reached to a place called Baba budangiri. I rested at one of the view points, drank water, visited a small waterfall, ate Samosas and in the end boarded a bus which droped me at Chickmanglur bus stand at 7.00 Pm. After which i wandered into the city of chickmanglur had tasty Shwarmas, and left back for Bangalore.
At the end of day I felt happy with mother nature, came much closer to myself.
